Busted claim UK No 1 spot
Teenage boy band Busted knocked Oliver Cheatham and Room 5 from the top of the charts tonight as the summit made way for three new entries.
Lisa Maffia celebrated her debut as a solo artist in at number two with All Over pipping Fame Academy winner David Sneddon whose second release, Don’t Let Go, completed the top three berths.
It was the fresh-faced trio from Busted who finally ended the four-week reign at the top for the reworked 80s soul classic Make Luv which was tonight settling into unfamiliar surroundings at number four.
There were three more new entries into the top 10. DMX’s X Gon’ Give It To Ya entered the charts at number six, while the White Stripes, whose album Elephant occupied the top spot in the album charts two weeks ago, debuted at number seven with Nation Army.
Triple Eight’s track Knock Out entered the charts at number eight, with Junior Senior’ Move Your Feet, and Kym Marsh’s single, Cry, completing the top 10.
Madonna made up for the disappointment of missing out on pole position in the singles chart last week by sweeping all aside to claim the number one album slot.
While the single languished in 12th having entered the charts last week at number two, American Life, the album, topped the lot.
Justin Timberlake’s Justified was edged into second, and the critically acclaimed White Stripes slipped one place from last week into third.
Meat Loaf entered the chart at four, with I Couldn’t Have Said It Better, while Coldplay’s ever-popular A Rush of Blood to the Head, pop pickers top choice in the album charts last week, slipped to number 6.
