Kilmer recieves high praise for film role
Val Kilmer is frighteningly intense in his role as 1970s porn star John Holmes in Wonderland, according to his co-star, actor-writer-filmmaker Tim Blake Nelson.
“There were moments working with Val when I didn’t know what was going to happen next,” Nelson tells syndicated columnist Marilyn Beck.
“You felt almost in danger. There was an intensity on the set like I’ve never experienced before. It wasn’t always enjoyable.”
Wonderland centres on Holmes’s murder which took place in the early 1980s after the adult film star’s career began to wane due to a crippling cocaine habit.
Holmes and his friends robbed Los Angeles drug dealers and thieves, with most of the planning taking place at the Wonderland Avenue address of Holmes’ best friend, Billy Deverell, played by Nelson.
“This will restore faith in those who don’t believe that Val Kilmer is one of our best film actors working today,” says Nelson.
