Disco tune keeps top spot in UK
Soul star Oliver Cheatham was celebrating again today after the reworked 80s soul classic Make Luv remained at number one for a second week.
The performance by Room 5 featuring Cheatham, the singer on the original 1983 classic Get Down (Saturday Night), features in the Lynx Pulse television advert, which follows a geeky guy whose funky dancing attracts two gorgeous women.
Its success has led many critics to tip the release to be the big dancefloor hit of the year.
Meanwhile, Gareth Gates’ Comic Relief charity single, Spirit in the Sky featuring television comedy family the Kumars, held onto the number two spot for the second week in a row.
Move Your Feet, by Junior Senior, jumped two places from five to three as Atomic Kitten remained at number four with Love Doesn’t Have To Hurt.
50 Cent’s In Da Club moved up three places to five.
Meanwhile, the critically acclaimed White Stripes shot straight to the top of the albums chart with Elephant.
Norah Jones climbed one place to number two with Come Away With Me, while last week’s number one, Linkin Park’s Meteora, slid to number three.
