The world's in danger, start digging!

We are, here, in the sci-fi world of the world, as we know it, facing meltdown as the electromagnetic layer falters as the Earth's core goes off beam.

The bottom line being the old one of the world about to end and a group of brave souls - actually, a bunch of unlikely characters - burrowing into the globe's core to put things right.

It's all, of course, hokum, and only so-so hokum.There's a bit of fun here and there, the odd nail-chewing moment, but overall it's one of the least interesting sci-fi films ever made.
