Holiday hell in 'Just Married'

Americans will never quite understand the rest of the world, least of all, as here, 'Old Europe.' We have here one of those awful romantic comedies in which the insularity of Americans is revealed in all its most charmless ways.

Americans will never quite understand the rest of the world, least of all, as here, 'Old Europe.'

We have here one of those awful romantic comedies in which the insularity of Americans is revealed in all its most charmless ways.

Newlyweds Kutcher and Murphy are on honeymoon in Europe and meet every kind of unfunny stereotype (roving-eye Italians, rude French, primitive plumbing), while doing no favours to our own image of the American abroad.

The young couple bicker, the film isn't funny or attractive, the story may take in a lot of countries but goes nowhere and in the end it's a dismal attempt to give American audiences a glimpse of us and themselves.
