Brent to return for Christmas special
Hit comedy The Office could make a Christmas comeback, according to its creator Ricky Gervais.
The show, in which he plays toe-curling boss David Brent, is likely to return for a one-off special.
Gervais said he was working on a Christmas edition as he picked up a prize at the British Royal Television Society Awards last night for best comedy performance.
The programme, a spoof fly-on-the-wall documentary set in a Slough office, follows cringeworthy boss Brent and his colleagues.
Gervais has previously ruled out a further series but said there could be specials to tie up loose ends.
A BBC2 spokeswoman said today: “We know Ricky is working on a script and he talks about it being a Christmas special.
“He’s very much in the early stages but we’re obviously looking forward to seeing it and we would then think about how we would schedule it.”
