Redgrave undergoes breast cancer surgery

British actress Lynn Redgrave has undergone treatment for breast cancer in the United States.

The 60-year-old, who began preview performances last weekend for Alan Bennett’s off-Broadway Talking Heads show, has had a number of new and encouraging treatments at a New York clinic, her spokesman said.

Talking Heads begins on April 6. Her monologue is called Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet – the story of a middle aged English woman’s awakening.

The cast also includes Kathleen Chalfant, Christine Ebersole and Daniel Davis.

Her sister Vanessa will also be on the New York stage this spring, starring with Brian Dennehy in a revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night, which opens on May 6.
