Big names join rock Hall of Fame
The Clash, the Police, and Elvis Costello have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
AC/DC and the Righteous Brothers are also being inducted at the annual ceremony at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Three veteran session musicians - Benny Benjamin, Floyd Cramer and Steve Douglas - received posthumous honours as sidemen. Mo Ostin, long-time Warner Brothers Records chief, won a lifetime achievement award.
Hopes for a reunion of The Clash at the Hall of Fame induction were dashed when lead singer Joe Strummer died of a heart attack on December 22.
All of the groups honoured have enjoyed huge worldwide success.
