Anti-war musical gets new lease of life
With America on the brink of war it seems only fitting that the 1960s anti-war musical Hair is about to undergo a facelift and receive a new lease on life.
Michael Butler, the musical’s original Broadway producer, plans to begin a US tour in September with the possibility of the show also returning to London.
He said that although the legendary nude scene will be retained, the songs, which include The Age of Aquarius and Good Morning, Starshine, may be updated.
“It’s the perfect time for this musical,” Butler told Daily Variety.
“The new anti-war protests are long-term and Hair is an entertaining way to get the message out again.”
