Kelly Osbourne to star in Doritos ad
Singer Kelly Osbourne, daughter of veteran rocker Ozzy, has landed a new TV role – promoting Doritos crisps, it was announced today.
The 18-year-old, who became a household name after starring in the hit fly-on-the-wall series The Osbournes, will appear in two new Doritos ads due to be launched on St Patrick's Day.
Kelly and her band mates will be seen sitting in a flat listening to their forthcoming single Come Dig Me Out while munching on the snacks.
The ads will be the latest in the Doritos “Friendchips” campaign, which features a group of friends enjoying the snacks.
In the first commercial, Kelly’s band are seen listening to their music at full volume while the “Friendchips gang” are in the flat below trying to relax.
The loud music eventually gets the better of them and one of the gang is sent upstairs, only to come face to face with Kelly.
The sequel then shows Finlay and Chris, from the gang, in Kelly’s flat desperately trying to fit in and be cool, while they listen to the band’s current charts single Shut Up.
The campaign aims to re-launch small bags of Doritos, introducing the New Extreme Chilli Heatwave flavour and announcing the improved Tangy Cheese and Cool Original flavours.
Kelly said: “It’s fantastic to be involved with a big brand like Doritos because I’ve enjoyed eating them since I was a kid.
“I immediately wanted to do the commercials after I read their script ideas where I would get to perform my songs ... and munch on Doritos. All I can say is, it doesn’t get much better than that!”
Doritos brand manager Sarah Milnes said: “All of the Doritos ‘Friendchips’ commercials tell a story and these are no different.
“We are delighted to have Kelly as a spokesperson for our small bags of Doritos.”
