Deayton shows off soccer skills
Angus Deayton showed off his soccer skills today at a charity football tournament in aid of Comic Relief.
The former Have I Got News For You host was part of a celebrity team that was beaten 5-0 in the final by a side from BBC1’s Football Focus.
Deayton’s involvement with Comic Relief is another step towards his public rehabilitation after he was axed from the show over tabloid sex and drugs revelations.
He will take part in Red Nose Night on March 14 – his first major TV appearance for the BBC since his sacking last October.
His efforts on the football field will be screened the following day on Football Focus.
Deayton’s team, which included Teachers star Andrew Lincoln and former Casualty actor Patrick Robinson, was trounced by the Football Focus side which featured presenter Ray Stubbs and former Crystal Palace player Mark Bright.
Also taking part at the event at Chiswick, west London, were a team of Manchester United lookalikes but they failed to replicate the talents of the real thing.
