Writer-director Blake Edwards is to remake his 1979 film hit 10, which made international stars out of Dudley Moore and Bo Derek.

Filming is due to begin in August in the UK although no casting has yet been announced.

“In the 25 years since I made the original, 10 has become synonymous with perfection around the world,” Edwards told Daily Variety. “It is one of my favourite films and though the look will be new, the message is still the same.

It’s a classic ‘grass is always greener’ tale – sexy and fun – that will resonate in today’s marketplace.”

Edwards, whose films include Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Victor/Victoria and the Pink Panther series, has not said whether there will be a role in the new 10 for his wife Julie Andrews, who co-starred in the original.
