Farrell refused service in bar
Irish hellraiser Colin Farrell may be instantly recognised in the nightclubs and restaurants of Hollywood but he discovered he is not so well known in British pubs in the area.
The actor recently popped into Ye Olde King’s Head pub in Santa Monica, where a scene in his new movie Daredevil was filmed, hoping for a pint of Guinness, but he was refused service because the barmaid thought he looked under 21 – the legal drinking age in California.
“My picture’s on the wall over there,” 26-year-old Farrell protested, indicating a photograph taken while he was filming Daredevil.
“I don’t care if your picture’s on the wall or not,” said the barmaid. “I’m not serving you until you can show me proof of your age.”
Farrell, who will be one of the presenters at this year’s Oscars ceremony, had to produce his passport before he could enjoy his Guinness.
