Baxendale attacks 'nothing to say' celebrities
One of the stars of television drama Cold Feet has attacked the cult of celebrity, saying famous people “have nothing to say about anything”.
Actress Helen Baxendale, 32, who has been in the ITV1 comedy drama since its pilot programme, said: “It feels like society is going the wrong way – we applaud nothingness.
“So many people in the public eye have nothing to say about anything,” she told S, the Sunday Express magazine.
She said it was difficult for performers to say important things because they did not know anything about the real world.
Baxendale plays Rachel in the show, and begins the new series discovering the ups and downs of parenthood.
Cold Feet will return to ITV1 on February 23.
