Chicago leads Oscar nominations

The musical Chicago led the Academy Awards contenders today with 13 Oscar nominations, including best picture and four acting honours.

Other multiple nominees included About Schmidt, the Hours, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Gangs of New York.

As expected, Daniel Day-Lewis received a nomination for Best Actor for his role in the Gangs of New York.

Director Martin Scorcese also received a nomination.
