Aliens take over MIB II
The aliens have all the best lines in MIB II.
IN Men In Black II Agent Jay (Will Smith) and Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) join forces once more to defend the earth against an evil Kylothian named Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle).
Disguised as a sexy lingerie model, Serleena has returned to find The Light, which is hidden on Earth, to gain galactic power. But only Kay knows where it is.
There is only one problem, as those of you who saw the original Men In Black will already have worked out: Kay has being neuralised, wiping out his memory.
So Jay must help Kay regain his memory and save earth from annihilation.
As mindless entertainment goes, MIB II is not so bad.
There’s a good sprinkling of adorable aliens like Frank the Pug, the badly behaved Worm Guys and the mini singing Bird People.
However, some of the jokes that worked so well in the original fall short in the sequel; the effects are not as novel; and the soundtrack isn’t good enough to pump up the tempo of the limp storyline.
Fortunately, there are just about enough funny moments to keep things from completely falling flat.
The somewhat hasty and half-hearted quality of the screenplay suggests that the makers were just trying to re-cash in the success of MIB, which has already grossed over 500 million worldwide.
