Whitney Houston's father dies

Whitney Houston's father, John, has died after a lengthy battle with diabetes and heart disease.

Mr Houston, a theatrical manager, died on Sunday at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan.

Family spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer said his health had been deteriorating for several years.

She said: "The entire family is greatly saddened by the loss of someone they all loved so much."
