Super Bowl bet costs husband €24K
A bet on the Super Bowl cost Aaron Johnson €24, 161 after he promised to buy his wife a new car if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won.
The 47-year-old Florida driver made the pledge in December, when it seemed impossible the team would advance to the biggest game in American football.
“She thought I was going to back out,” Johnson said. “But I had to keep my word.” He bought his wife, 44-year-old Ruby, a silver Nissan Altima.
And if the Oakland Raiders had won?
“Nothing,” Johnson said. “We didn’t make a bet on that, so I was stuck any way you look at it.”
Tampa Bay won Sunday’s game 48-21.
