I Spy

Director: Betty Thomas

Cast: Eddie Murphy, Owen Wilson, Famke Janssen, Malcolm McDowell, Gary Cole

Cert: 12.

Back in the l960s I Spy was a so-so television drama series. This film is equally so-so since it seems to have been made with a deliberate lack of wit or originality.

The storyline is laughable (though not funny) - Wilson is a special agent, Murphy is a boxer, McDowell is a baddie planning to sell an invisible aircraft to terrorists - and there is an air of disinterest throughout on the part of the cast. Surprisingly, only Murphy - who can be one of the most annoying actors ever encountered on screen - seems to realise that the awful material needs help. He's actually not bad.

Which doesn't say much for this poorly-made tosh.

Star Rating: 1/5.
