Lara's outfit is tutu much

Oscar-winner Jack Nicholson tried to explain why his on-off girlfriend, the actress Lara Flynn Boyle, wore such a bizarre outfit to the Golden Globes ceremony.

The star of Men In Black II – who was a presenter at the awards – drew comment after she turned up dressed in a pink ballerina’s tutu.

Backstage – as he chatted about winning the best dramatic actor award for his role in About Schmidt – Nicholson said Boyle used to be a dancer.

He said: “Lara’s tutu was startling. She’s a colourful actress, I really think she’s wonderful and I have always said that every actor has to make a strong statement.

“She’s great, she a former dancer.”

But whatever Nicholson thinks, Boyle is already being touted as the worst dressed woman at the Globes on US entertainment shows for her unusual choice of outfit.
