Hostage Keenan's story to hit cinemas
Film production company Parallax Independent Production has started shooting Blind Flight, the story of Irish hostage Brian Keenan and fellow-hostage John McCarthy, who were kidnapped and held prisoner in the Lebanon during the 1980s.
Screen Daily reports that the film is based on Keenan’s book An Evil Cradling and stars Ian Hart as Keenan and Linus Roache as McCarthy.
Shooting is set to take place in Belfast, Glasgow and Tunisia. John Furse will direct from a script written by himself and Keenan in collaboration with McCarthy.
He says: “Blind Flight is both a prison drama and a love story involving the search for personal freedom in extraordinary conditions.
Roache adds: “The intensity of the relationship between Brian and John has an intimacy and depth of trust that is very rare.
“Ian and I are fascinated by the challenge of bringing it to the screen.”
