Girls Aloud star held over nightclub assault
A member of chart-topping pop group Girls Aloud was arrested after an alleged attack in a nightclub, police said.
Singer Cheryl Tweedy was accused of punching law student Sophie Amogbokpa, 39, who was working as a toilet attendant at The Drink nightclub in Guildford, Surrey.
Tweedy, one of the winners of the ITV show Popstars: The Rivals, was held by police for 10 hours.
Ms Amogbokpa was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital for treatment to an eye injury, it was reported.
Last night a Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “A 19-year-old woman was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault in the early hours of Saturday morning. She has now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.”
Girls Aloud are currently number one in the charts with their debut single Sound Of The Underground.
