Ex-Baywatch star tells of cocaine battle

Former Baywatch star Yasmine Bleeth today told of her five year battle with cocaine addiction.

Former Baywatch star Yasmine Bleeth today told of her five year battle with cocaine addiction.

The actress said she had remained clean since crashing her car off a highway in September 2001, while high on the drug.

But she told Glamour magazine: “Consciously trying to stay off drugs is now part of my life and always will be.”

Bleeth, 34, said she started taking cocaine socially at the end of the 1990s shortly after the last series of Baywatch had finished.

Before long she was having it delivered to her home “like ordering Chinese food“.

She stopped seeing friends and often had bloody noses.

“If I was sniffling, my publicist would tell people I had sinus problems, which I do.”

She said by the end of 1999 she “looked like an alien“, and had shrunk from a size 8 to a “size 0”.

After collapsing during a photo shoot she checked into Promises rehab centre in Malibu, but within two weeks she was taking cocaine again.

Following the car accident she was ordered to serve two years of probation and submit to regular drug tests.

She married Paul Cerrito, a club owner in Michigan who she met in rehab, and has managed to avoid returning to cocaine.

But Bleeth, who was one of the original cast members of Baywatch alongside Pamela Anderson, said it remained a constant struggle.

“I never expected to get into drugs.”
