Sweeney: I'd love to host Blind Date

TV favourite Claire Sweeney said today she would jump at the chance to take over from Cilla Black as the new host of Blind Date.

Bookies made Sweeney one of the hot favourites to land the job after Black announced last week she was quitting the show.

"I’d be very flattered to be approached and I’d love the job if it was ever offered to me. Blind Date is a fantastic show," she said.

"But I think it’s wrong to talk about ‘the new Cilla Black’ – there’ll only ever be one Cilla.”

Sweeney is rumoured to have already been approached by Blind Date bosses to discuss taking over the role.
