Christina in cover-up row
Raunchy singer Christina Aguilera has been told to tone down her sexy image for an appearance on a children’s TV show.
According to tabloid reports, the US pop star, who is well known for her revealing outfits in steamy music videos such as Dirrty and Lady Marmalade, was told by managers at CD:UK that she should clean up her act for her appearance last Saturday (January 4).
The singer caused controversy when she last performed on the show, wearing nothing but a bikini top, cowboy chaps and a tiny pair of knickers.
A CD:UK spokesman said: “Christina’s last performance got the programme into a lot of trouble. We were relieved that she turned up in more clothes this time.”
Christina has revelled in her new-found sexy image since she collaborated with Pink, Mya, Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliot on the successful hit track, Lady Marmalade - a huge change from her sweet look on her debut album, Christina Aguilera.
She says: “I got to a point where I just couldn’t do it anymore. I’m not great at faking my way through, trying to live up to the perfect American virginal sweetheart kind of thing. I just have to be me. I have to do my thing.”
But it’s not just bosses who disapprove of her look – last year, her grandmother admitted publicly that she thought her grand-daughter was too sexy and should cover up.
