Catherine Zeta Jones has reportedly infuriated residents near her home town of Swansea by extending plans for a large mansion.

She has added an extra storey to her £1m (€1.53m) house, which is currently being built overlooking the Bristol Channel.

She is now thought to be at the centre of a planning row because the initial proposals have been altered.

Neighbours have complained to Swansea City and County Council, after developers added a penthouse suite, along with balconies and huge feature windows, which extends the roof's height by more than two metres.

Developers have also been accused of ruining the natural beauty of the area by cutting down ancient woodland, including trees protected by preservation orders, reports the London Evening Standard.

The actress and husband Michael Douglas already own a house and an apartment in Los Angeles - along with homes in Bermuda, Majorca, New York and a ranch in the ski resort of Aspen.

It's thought they want a base in Wales so their two-year-old son Dylan and new baby due in March do not lose their Welsh roots.
