The Rolling Stones have announced plans for a free concert in Los Angeles next year.

The band want to raise awareness for the National Resources Defence Council (NRDC) and its battle against global warming.

The concert will take place on February 6 at Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

The NRDC president John H Adams said the Stones "deserve a standing ovation for putting the environment on centre stage."

Fans can get tickets through the post or by online at the band's official website.
