Aniston nominated for independent film award

Friends star Jennifer Aniston is up for an award for her portrayal of a fed-up shop worker in independent film The Good Girl.

Aniston has been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award – which are presented just before the Oscars next year – while the film Lovely & Amazing starring British actresses Brenda Blethyn and Emily Mortimer earned the most nominations for the prestigious honours.

Mortimer received a best supporting female award nomination, and faces competition from four other actresses including Juliette Lewis and Viola Davis.

The film’s Catherine Keener was nominated for a best actress award while Lovely & Amazing is also up in the best feature film category.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos is up for a debut performance award while Julianne Moore (Far From Heaven) will be competing against Aniston, Keener, Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary) and Parker Posey (Personal Velocity) for the best lead actress honour.
