Posh could be new Pop Idol judge

Victoria Beckham is reportedly in talks to be a judge on the next series of Pop Idol.

She is said to have approached the ITV1 show producers following Geri Halliwell's appearance in Popstars: The Rivals.

It is thought that the former Spice Girl is planning to relaunch her singing career next summer, after signing a £1.5m (€2.35m) deal with Telstar.

Irish pop guru Louis Walsh told The Sun: "Victoria Beckham is being lined up to star as a judge on Pop Idol Two.

"She has seen what Geri has done on Popstars: The Rivals and thinks she could appear as a nice judge on Pop Idol.

"Victoria has approached producers and expressed an interest in appearing, but it's early days yet."

Producers are already in talks with the original judges including Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman and Nicki Chapman about reappearing in the next series. Louis is also a favourite, with Ant and Dec set to return as hosts.

A spokeswoman from Pop Idol's producers Pearson TV added: "No decision has been taken on judges at the moment but it is important to get the right balance of characters.

"The producers are looking at various people including the previous judges. Nothing is cast in stone yet."
