Beatle Harrison leaves £99m
Former Beatle George Harrison death left £99m (€155m) in his will, it was confirmed today.
The guitarist died of lung cancer one year ago at the age of 58.
A High Court document today reveals that the gross value of his estate in the UK amounted to £99,226,780, with a net value of £98,916,464.
The star died on November 29 last year with his wife Olivia, 54, and son Dhani, 25, at his side.
Paul McCartney, Ringo and Eric Clapton tonight star in a tribute concert at the Royal Albert Hall to raise funds for The Material World Charitable Foundation, which Harrison founded.
Harrison’s widow spoke a few days ago for the first time about her late husband to tell how he had accepted his fate long before his death.
Los Angeles-born Olivia, who was married to Harrison for 23 years, told an NBC interviewer: “George dedicated a lot of his life to obtain a good ending and I don’t have any doubt that he was successful.”
She said Harrison, a follower of the Hindu Hare Krishna faith, had spent years trying to achieve self-realisation and peace with God.
The couple had a mansion home in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, where, Olivia said, he saved her life when they were attacked by a knife-wielding intruder in December 1999.
Harrison worked on his music until his death recording a final album, Brainwashed.
