Jolie pledges £50,000 to cancer unit
Bosses at an English children's hospital have spoken of their delight after Angelina Jolie pledged £50,000 (€79,000) to help build a new cancer unit.
The Tomb Raider star has promised the cash to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
Jolie's adopted son, Maddox spent three days at Alder Hey while his mother was filming the Tomb Raider sequel in Snowdonia, North Wales, earlier this year.
It's believed he suffered minor injuries following an accident with a kettle.
Oscar-winner Jolie pledged the cash to the hospital's Rocking Horse Appeal, which aims to raise £10 million by next May to build a state-of-the-art cancer unit.
A spokeswoman said: "We are absolutely delighted. It is such a generous offer.
"We are currently on £8.7m (€13.75m), so £50,000 (€79,000) is a significant step towards our goal."
