Goldie and Les Dennis were the first celebrity contestants nominated for eviction from the Big Brother house tonight.
DJ-turned-actor Goldie received four votes while one-time Family Fortunes presenter Dennis was nominated by three contestants for his “flatulence”.
Earlier Dennis had horrified contestants by accidentally starving the chickens, feeding them only a fraction of their daily ration.
But Goldie said he had chosen Dennis because “he keeps farting and I can’t take it any more”.
Meanwhile Melinda Messenger said she had voted for Goldie because “I don’t think he likes me. He’s the only one I feel friction with”.
Goldie returned the favour and voted for Messenger due to her “high voice ringing constantly in my ear,” he said.
Ex-Take That star Mark Owen was the only one to escape the diary room nominations unscathed without a single vote.
Celebrities confided a wide range of reasons to Big Brother with reasons for nomination from being too good at the Connect Four game, to the effect of stress from being in the house.
As each one confided their reasons, the rest of the contestants continued with their first task of making a patchwork quilt.
They have 24 hours to create the quilt – designed to test their endurance, teamwork and creative skills – and there must be a minimum of two housemates working on it at all times.
One in three of viewers who tuned into the first episode has already switched off after being treated to Les trimming his nose hair and Melinda offering her socks for the filter coffee machine.
An average of 4.5 million watched last night’s highlight’s show, compared with 7.2 million for Wednesday’s launch programme.
Meanwhile Ladbrokes made Owen and Messenger joint favourites to win at 2:1 after tonight’s episode.
Goldie was at 5:1, TV presenter Sue Perkins at 6:1 while Anne Diamond and Les Dennis were at 8:1.
This made Dennis the favourite to be the first one evicted from the Big Brother house.
