Beckham should stand back from publicity - Vinnie
Vinnie Jones has warned David Beckham he should step out of the spotlight for the sake of his family.
The former soccer hard man said Beckham needed to cut back his public profile in the wake of the alleged plot to kidnap his wife Victoria and their two children.
And he said that the Beckhams could hardly complain about press intrusion when they were constantly posing in the pages of glossy magazines.
“I think football is now showbusiness, but I do think that David should stand back a little bit now,” Jones told Virgin Radio’s Ben Jones.
“We can all scream and shout about the media and what is going on but you can’t have your cake and eat it.
“Every time you open OK! or Hello! they’re in there doing a photoshoot or something. So I think it’s just time for them to step back a little bit.”
Jones added: “His career is fine. I’m saying this for his family, for his personal side of things.”
The star of Snatch and Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, now launching a music career, said reports of the kidnap drama had made him worry about the safety of his own family.
“It is frightening. It sends a chill down your spine. We’ve all got kids and family and then some nutter decides they’re going to exploit what you’ve lived and strived for.
“I just think, if you want to do it, come and do it to me. Leave the kids and wives out of it,” he said.
The Beckhams made their first public appearance together on Tuesday night during an evening out with other members of the England football team and their partners.
They have stepped up security following the alleged plot and were surrounded by a trio of burly minders as they left San Lorenzo restaurant in Knightsbridge, central London.
