British actor Orlando Bloom, who stars in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, is set to appear in a movie with Hollywood star Brad Pitt.
The actor is in negotiations to join Pitt and Eric Bana in the Warner Brothers film Troy for director Wolfgang Petersen, says
The Hollywood Reporter. Bloom recently completed The Kelly Gang co-starring Heath Ledger and Naomi Watts and The Calcium Kid.
And he is in production on the Walt Disney film The Pirates of the Caribbean.
Big-budget movie Troy is based on the classic The Iliad – Homer’s epic account of the Trojan War.
It is due to begin shooting in the spring in the United Kingdom, Malta and Morocco and is likely to have a 2004 release date.
Bana will star as Hector – the prince of Troy, who leads the Trojan army in holding off the entire Greek Armada while Pitt will appear as Achilles.
Bloom would play Hector’s brother, Paris, who steals the beautiful Helen away from her husband, Menelaus, the king of Sparta, and prompts the war between Greece and Troy.
Bloom next appears in the second instalment of the Rings franchise, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
