Desperate Dean
Hell hath no fury.....like a soap opera star who has seen his show axed.
Dean Sullivan, Jimmy Corkhill in Brookside, is telling anyone who cares to listen that Channel 4 would be "stupid" to get rid of the show and, if they do pull the plug, that it will be resurrected on another channel.
"Brookside won't die - of that I'm sure," said Dean, speaking at the 20th birthday celebrations, for the Liverpool-based show.
"Fans can rest assured that it will carry on somewhere."
Back in the summer, Brookside boss Phil Redmond said that a couple of other broadcasters had expressed an interest in taking over the programme, should Channel 4 decide to give it up.
The time for that interest to be made, in solid form, is probably now upon us. Mersey TV's contract with Channel 4, at least that part of which affects Brookside, is due for renewal in under 12 months.
