Polar murder movie for Witherspoon
Actress Reese Witherspoon is set to star in and produce a whodunnit movie set in Antartica.
The Hollywood trade press reports that Universal Pictures will make the film Whiteout adapted from a series of graphic novels by Greg Rucka.
Witherspoon’s Type A Films will also be among the picture’s producers.
Whiteout is the story of a female US marshal called Carrie Stetko living in self-imposed exile in Antarctica.
Her quiet life of relative solitude is dramatically changed when she is called upon to investigate the first murder on that continent.
The murder comes as the sun is about to set for six months and she must catch the killer before he leaves the ice or be stuck there with him in the dark for six months.
Witherspoon, star of Legally Blonde and Election, will next be seen in the comedy Sweet Home Alabama.
