New film a first for Limerick

Until now, Limerick has never had a major feature film shot in its historic streets.

But the six-week shoot has started on The Real Thing, and actor Michael Legge, who played the lead in Angela's Ashes (set in Limerick), will star as a hapless civil servant whose life is changed when he discovers colourful neighbours.

The film has been written, and will be directed, by Limerick-born David Gleeson and will also feature Alan Leech, Amy Shiels, Frank Kelly, David Murray, Sean Power, Alvaro Lucchesi and Maeve McGrath.
