Adam Sandler is an acquired taste - and Gary Cooper he 'aint!

Thus, a remake of Cooper's classic Mr Deeds Goes to Town is the last thing we need, particularly when it stars Sandler.

In the original, Cooper's Mr Deeds comes into a family fortune and moves to sophisticated Manhattan. Since he's just a shucks mam hick-from-the-sticks the fish-out-of-water elements of the story made it one of director Frank Capra's most cherished films.

But with the ghastly, unfunny, grating Sandler, all decency is thrown out the window.

He is a man to avoid, and what the likes of Ryder, Gallagher, Turturro and Buscemi are doing in this dull and unimaginative effort is a mystery. The money must have been breathtaking!
