Travolta gives wife special birthday gift

John Travolta gave his wife Kelly Preston a very special gift for her 40th birthday earlier this month.

He paid for her and four of her best friends to travel to Italy’s Amalfi Coast while he stayed behind to look after the couple’s two children Jett and Ella.

Before her trip, Preston told People magazine: "My friends and I are going to stay in a villa for five days.

"That’s all we feel we can leave our kids for. We are guilty moms."

Generous Travolta also threw his actress wife a party in a Santa Monica restaurant where celebrity guests included Tom Hanks, Lisa Marie Presley, Nicolas cage and Christian Slater.

The party included an ice sculpture which jokingly wished Preston a ‘Happy 29th Birthday’.
