Mexican union wants star placed under house arrest
A Mexican union has called for Antonio Banderas to be placed under house arrest.
The STTM union is unhappy some of the crew on Banderas's new film were fired for "working too slowly".
The union has filed a lawsuit against Banderas, who is playing the lead character and producing And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself.
Producer Tony Mark; and their Mexican representative Luz Maria Rojas have also been cited in the suit.
They want the producers to pay all the sacked workers wages as well as renegotiate the individual contracts of the other 250 Mexican employees through the union.
Eduardo Rodriguez, the union's lawyer, had warned a Mexico City arbitration panel that, as foreigners, Banderas and Mark might leave Mexico before a deal was reached reports www.variety.com.
Rodriguez has asked for the pair to be put under house arrest or at least be obliged to leave a legal representative with means to pay compensation to the fired staff.
