Shakira sweeps board at MTV Latin America awards

Shakira has dominated the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America, scooping all five categories in which she was nominated.

She won Artist, Video and Female Artist Of The Year trophies, as well as Best Pop Artist and Best Artist, at the last night's event in Florida.

Also taking home trophies were Pink for Best International Pop Artist and the Red Hot Chili Peppers for International Rock Artist.

Alternative Chilean rock outfit La Ley received the Rock Artist Of The Year award as well as Best Group, while Manu Chao was named Best Alternative Artist.

Shakira, Mana and Carlos Santana, System of a Down and Avril Lavigne all performed live at the ceremony.
