Presenter leaves breakfast show
RI:SE presenter Colin Murray has left the troubled Channel 4 breakfast show, it emerged today.
A RI:SE spokeswoman said Murray had “parted company” with the programme, which he joined at its launch six months ago.
Murray was one of five presenters who had been with the show since its beginning, along with Mark Durden-Smith, Kirsty Gallacher, Edith Bowman and Liz Bonnin.
Channel 4 bosses hoped RI:SE would be a worthy replacement for the Big Breakfast but it has struggled to attract viewers with average ratings of around 200,000.
Murray is not the first departure – launch editor Mark Killick left the programme days after it went on air.
Poor viewing figures have led to speculation that the show will be axed.
Murray, 25, who began as a news reporter in Belfast before working for Radio 1 in Northern Ireland, will now concentrate on new show Born Sloppy.
The TFI-Friday style entertainment show, hosted by Radio 1’s Sara Cox, is currently at pilot stage.
