Angelina backs minefield charity

Angelina Jolie has taken a break from shooting the sequel to Tomb Raider in North Wales to meet a group of school children.

She spent the day teaching primary school pupils in Northwich, Cheshire about the charity Adopt-A-Minefield.

The Hollywood actress is a keen supporter of the scheme which helps clear mine-ravaged areas around the world.

She told the Sunday Mirror: "I think it is vital that children understand about international conflicts and their consequences."

Angelina became aware of the devastation caused by mines whilst filming in Cambodia.

It is thought that mines kill or injure 19,000 people a year.
