Debra Winger to return to silver screen
Two-time Oscar nominee Debra Winger is set to star in the sports drama Radio, her first studio film since Forget Paris in 1995.
Mike Tollin will direct the story which centres on the real-life relationship between a white football coach who befriends a mentally challenged black man nicknamed Radio in a small South Carolina town.
Under the coach’s mentoring, their relationship helps to transform the social dynamics of not only the team but also the school.
Entertainment website Zap2It.com says Cuba Gooding Jr will take the role of Radio, while Ed Harris plays the coach and Winger his wife.
Winger, 47, was one of the most sought-after actresses in the 1980s for her roles in Urban Cowboy, Legal Eagles and An Officer And A Gentleman opposite Richard Gere.
More recently she appeared in actress Rosanna Arquette’s documentary Searching For Debra Winger.
