Last Days in Dublin a hit and miss affair
Last Days in Dublin
Director: Lance Daly
Cast: M.C. Wuzza, Hughie Kelly, Grattan Smith, Louise Scott, Nell McCafferty
Cert: Club.
Writer-producer-director Lance Daly low-budget debut feature is a bit of a hit-and-miss affair.
We are with the stereotype Irish males - drunken layabouts - as they conduct a Bloomlike ramble around Dublin city, passing remarks on its citizens ... some witty enough, but mostly not.
Daly does write well enough and in future might well direct with more confidence and assurance than he shows here. The cast does it best and universally emerges on the credit side, but there is nothing truly original or memorable about the self-indulgent film.
