Minnelli and husband want four adopted children
Showbiz couple Liza Minnelli and David Gest are planning to adopt as many as four children, they revealed today.
The legendary singer and her producer husband expect to add a further three youngsters to expand their brood within a couple of years, they told BBC show Liquid News.
Minnelli and Gest â who married last year â are expecting to take charge of their first child Serna, three, in January.
The coupleâs trials and tribulations will soon be seen in a new fly-on-the-wall series for music channel VH1.
In a Liquid News profile of Minnelli being screened tonight on digital channel BBC Choice, Gest said: âThis will be the first of four children.â
He said there would be âgapsâ between their arrivals, but added: âWithin the next two years the other children will arrive.â
Minnelli pointed out: âDavid is a producer. He plans way ahead. I think Iâd rather take it one day at a time, but thatâs why I love him so much.â
Gest, talking talking about their role as parents, said: âThatâs the most important thing â giving your time and being there for your child. Thatâs really what it is. To be there at all times.
âThatâs the most important thing to us right now â more than anything else. Thatâs our main goal.
The pair also told how they had visited a London chip shop while in the UK - with Joan Collins and her new husband Percy Gibson.
âWe still really love to do the normal and fun things.â
