Fame line-up revealed
The line-up of contestants for BBC1's new reality TV show Fame Academy has been unveiled.
They include a father of four in his 30s, an economics teacher and a woman who counsels people with eating disorders.
And of the 11 named to take part in the show, two have previously held recording deals.
A twelfth contestant will be given his or her big break by the public who will see hopefuls put through their paces at a live audition when the show kicks off this Friday at 8.30pm.
They will have to spend 24 hours a day together in a £35m (€55.6m) north London mansion where top tutors will bring out the best in them.
At stake is a £1m (€1.6m) recording deal and the chance to live as a superstar with all the trappings of fame.
The show, hosted by Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty, is expected to air three times a week in a primetime slot.
The list of contestants is as follows:
Ainslie Henderson, 23, a singer-songwriter originally from Hawick in Scotland.
Ashley House, 28, an economics teacher from Cheltenham.
Camilla Beeput, 21, from north London who had been due study at Ealing Drama Studios next month.
Chris Manning, 23, from Poole in Dorset who works in IT.
Katie Lewis, 18, a student from Bristol.
Lemar Obika, 24, an accounts manager at a high street bank from north London.
Malachi Cush, 22, a gas fitter from County Tyrone in Northern Ireland.
Marli Buck, a 27-year-old eating disorders counsellor and nursing assistant from Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire.
Naomi Roper, a 19-year-old student from the Scottish Borders but now based in London.
Nigel Wilson, a 31-year-old father-of-four and vehicle sales manager from Scunthorpe.
Pippa Fulton, 20, a stage school student from Hull.
