Lloyd Webber searches for his Maria

Producers of a new stage version of The Sound Of Music are set to begin looking for their star.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is to produce a new version of the musical in London's West End next year.

He plans to stage the production at the Victoria Palace Theatre in May.

A spokesman told The Times they have not yet cast the role of Maria and are due to begin looking for an actress soon.

It is not known whether she will be a well known star or a newcomer.
