Stars from the world of music and comedy tonight turned out for a tribute concert dedicated to singer songwriter Kirsty MacColl.

She died in a speedboat accident in December, 2000. During a glittering career, she performed alongside legendary acts including The Pogues, Billy Bragg and David Byrne.

Her last album, Tropical Brainstorm, was released just before she died. Among the stars on show at the tribute were comedienne Tracey Ullman, who was giving her first UK performance since 1984.

Also performing at London’s Royal Festival Hall were singer Roddy Frame, comedian Phil Jupitus, songwriter Evan Dando and vocalist Johnny Marr.
