Nolte checks into rehab clinic
Oscar-nominated actor Nick Nolte is being treated at a substance abuse centre in Connecticut in the US.
The move follows his arrest in California earlier this month on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Nolte’s publicist Paul Bloch says the star admitted himself into the same hospital which recently treated singers Billy Joel and Diana Ross.
Bloch says: “Nick Nolte voluntarily entered Silver Hill Hospital to receive advice and counsel that he feels he needs at this time. He will be there as long as he feels is necessary.”
Nolte, 61, went into the centre on September 14 just a few days after he was arrested and booked for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Malibu.
He is due in court next month.
Nolte was nominated for Oscars for 1991’s The Prince Of Tides and 1997’s Affliction. Next year, Nolte appears as Dr David Banner in director Ang Lee's The Hulk.
